The Department of Justice announced that the federal government will not legally contest state laws permitting recreational or medical marijuana use. Issued guidelines advise states to maintain strict rules such as stopping growth of marijuana on public land, preventing marijuana from falling into the hands of minors or cartels and gangs, and preventing sales to states where it remains illegal.
