The researchers from the Winthrop University Hospital, NY have concluded a preliminary study evaluating data from nearly 135000 adult patients in terms of stroke hospitalizations, death rates and the relationship to changes in temperature and humidity. The researchers found that an average daily temperature variation of 5 degree Fahrenheit is related to a 6 percent increase in stroke risk and hospitalization. Another trial that was just published looks at the weather and arthritis exacerbation. How often do you discuss weather and its effects on your patients? What are your typical recommendations to those who are especially affected by these changes?
