A new study published in the Lancet, evaluated looking at the vitamin D status of the pregnant woman and its effects on the bone-mineral content of the offspring later in life. Researchers studied 3960 mother-and-offspring pairs and found no difference between children, at a mean age of 9.9 years, in total body less head (TBLH) or spinal bone-mineral content (BMC). Furthermore, no associations were found with offspring BMC and vitamin D levels at any trimester. How often do your pregnant patients inquire about supplement use during pregnancy?
