149904_of833-mA new cohort study, finds that consuming 160 grams (5.6 oz.) or more a day of processed meats (such as hot dogs and sausages) may increase the risk of premature death by 44%. The study also found that if less than 20 grams (0.7 oz.) per day of processed meat were consumed, it would reduce mortality by 3.3%. Due to the results of this study, researchers recommend eating less than one ounce of processed meat a day.
