A recent study found that automated phone reminders followed by letters to patients who did not pick up their new prescriptions appeared to enhance adherence.  Among 5,216 patients who failed to pick up their newly prescribed statin, patients who received an automated reminder followed by a letter were 1.6 times more likely to fill their prescriptions than those who didn’t receive a reminder.
