Triclosan, an antibacterial chemical component foundin toothpaste and other cosmetic products,could change the bacterial composition on the skin, in the mouth and the intestines which cancause an increased allergy risk. A recent study found 10-year-old children who had elevated levels of Immunoglobulin E (IgE) and rhinitis also showed triclosan in their urine. What recommendations do you make regarding common hygienic products to parents of young children?
