A five year follow up cohort study published in BMJ Open studied the effect of low dose aspirin on cognitive function in non-demented elderly women with high cardiovascular risk. The primary outcome of this observational study was cognitive decline and dementia measured using the mini mental state examination (MMSE) and DSM-III-R criteria, respectively.  Use of baby aspirin was associated with less decline based on these tests.  What are your thoughts about the daily use of baby aspirin? For patients who take daily aspirin, what important counseling points do you provide?
